Phuket is sometimes referred to as paradise on earth and one visit will convince tourists that the reference is no exaggeration. The island maybe renowned for its gorgeous beaches, but few realise that Phuket is not just a beach destination. Filled with lush forests, dramatic cliffs and majestic rivers, it is the ideal spot for a vacation. Those who want a change of scenery from the dreariness of the city will definitely enjoy the slice of paradise that awaits them in Phuket.
It is impossible to holiday in Phuket without paying a visit to some of the island’s most popular waterfalls. The waterfalls are hangout spots favoured by those who love nature. Some waterfalls are hard to access and one may have to trek through some rough forest trails to get through to them. This is actually a blessing in disguise as these spots tend to be less crowded. When talking about waterfalls in Phuket, there are three major ones: the Kathu Waterfall, the Tonsai Waterfall and the Bang Pae Waterfall.
Kathu Waterfall is a very serene place. The waterfall does not really gush instead it flows from one short drop to another. The best time to visit is between June and November, which is during the monsoon season. The Tonsai Waterfall is located in the north eastern end of Phuket. It is quite a way inland but luckily the route in is highly picturesque and one will get to see plenty of farmland and forests along the way. The Bang Pae Waterfall is probably the best known of the three. It is the largest waterfall in Phuket and is located in the national park at Thalang. It is a popular swimming hole but should not be braved during the wet season.
Tourists who want a Phuket resort close to all the action should get a Patong beach resort. Patong is the island’s tourist heartland and is home to the best bars, restaurants and nightclubs. For those who want accommodation in the area the Millennium Resort Patong Phuket is an excellent option. Offering guests easy access to Patong Beach and the myriad of entertainment options available there, it is the ideal accommodation choice.
