Eat, breathe and drown in lavender, then disappear into the tiny fields of lavender that border the cottage that looks like it was taken straight out of one of your favourite childhood fairy tale books. Solidly built, lined with green shrubs and well pruned lawns, the farm house is what you would call picture perfect. The central mountain range in that part of Taiwan helps to preserve a mild climate that truly befits the setting of the Lavender Farm. Though it is located in one of the top three populated cities of Taiwan, the Sinshe farm is far from what reminds anyone of bustling or commercial. In fact its calming airs are therapeutic and just what the doctor prescribed for those who are over stressed and need some serious rehabilitation to get their weary nerves back on track.
The grounds are not sprawling and the fields of lavender don’t run for acres endlessly, but the premises are compact and nestled away in a quiet corner of the globe distant from worldly matters. The lavender fields are set on a slope, hence entailing a bit of exercise if you want to really enjoy the beauty of the soft purple blossoms. Petals drop to serenade the visitors, the plants sway to usher in new gusts of wind and the fragrance of the flowers linger for hours even after visitors leave the field.
The lavender ice cream, lavender flavoured chicken and lavender milk tea are the signature delicacies served at the restaurant at Sinshe Lavender Field, where you can also find other mouth watering dishes served in country style. The trinket shop provides a limited but interesting range of items, including some of the key ingredients that go into the lavender dishes and lavender air freshener.
The lavender farm is a fair distance from hotels in Taichung, which is the main business district in the area. Nevertheless many do not regret the dreary road trip that leads them away from even a supreme accommodation such as the Millennium Vee Hotel Taichung to the blossoming thresholds of the farm as the memories they assimilate here are just as good as those gained at any Taichung hotel.
