The stunning Seychelles is a heavenly paradise made up of one hundred and fifteen islands. A resort in Seychelles is the epitome of luxury, many are located on pristine beaches that extend for miles with the stunning topaz ocean beyond. Lying in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa, this is a truly exotic location. The capital of the Seychelles is Victoria, on Mahe Island, the largest island in the archipelago and also its key transport hub. Mahe Island is also where you will find Seychelles International Airport and AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa.
The Seychelles has two peak tourist seasons: from December to January and July to August. During this time the islands are teaming with beachgoers and the hotels are heavily booked. However, the pleasing tropical conditions make it an ideal holiday destination at any time of year.
If you have a particular interest or activity you wish to engage in during your stay in the Seychelles, you may need to plan your visit for a specific time of year. The cooler south-easterly winds reach ideal speeds for sailing between the months of May and September. During the warm months of April and October winds die down almost completely. For the best swimming, snorkelling and diving conditions with good visibility, plan your visit during the months of April and May or October and November. Midyear is the best time to hike the nature reserves and also for bird watchers to witness the nesting of Sooty Terns. Migratory birds can be spotted in October. Annual events also draw international visitors: The Seychelles Sailing Cup, held annually in January, kicks off the calendar of activities. The ‘SUBIOS Underwater Festival’, relaunched as the ‘Seychelles’ Ocean Festival’ in 2015, takes a comprehensive look at the ocean that surrounds the islands. ‘Festival Kreol’, held in October, celebrates Creole heritage and traditions.
