Sea World Indonesia is housed on a land with an area of over 3 hectares. Construction of the recreational centre commenced in 1992 and the park was opened for the public in 1994. The main aquarium which is also known as the saltwater aquarium is home to a wide variety of sea creatures and plants thriving in the salt water environment. The tank which houses this aquarium can hold over 5 litres of water and thus is one of the largest aquariums in the region. Likewise the freshwater aquarium holds various types of flora and fauna native to diverse freshwater regions in the world including piranha and electric eels. The Dugong aquarium on the other hand is inhabited by the Dugong, a type of shy sea mammal amongst other corral and fish species. The Antasena tunnel is the highlight of the tour as it provides visitors with a surreal perspective of the marine life as a conveyor belt transports travellers throughout its 80 meter course.
